Besides, we hear some other expressions which are not taken from a right Islamic origin. But they are produced from obscure texts or incomplete derivations, or by means of peculiar circumstances and ages which are faraway from our Islamic comprehension and precepts . Our right comprehension has made a revolution in the early period of Islam, against the backwardness and retardation which have prevailed on the social situation before Islam, intellectually, socially, and morally. So Islam called for rationality and contemplation and a sound logical dialogue. Rather, it has depicted the characteristics of this dialogue. Moreover it has called also for the freedom of faith and endeavouring to infer or derive the judgments from the original religious texts. Such was the case in the early period of Islam. So, brotherhood and unity were prevailing in spite of the presence of disagreement between the companions, despite the rising of some conflicting incidents. And so was the case in the ages of rising the religious sects from the 2nd Hejri century to the 4th century. Hence the march has carried on advancing despite the presence of protrusions and penetrations, here and there. But the presence of the narrow interests and ignorance in some standards, and extremity even in the scientific atmospheres, besides the conspiracy plans coming from the outside of the Ummah. All of these factors have transformed the normal sect’s state into a terrible sectarian fatal state, which has destroyed the achievements of the Ummah, which have been accomplished in the former ages. And then they have made a big fissure in the march of the Ummah. This has happened in the past ages, but we believe that the effective factor in such a case lies in not observing the precepts and principles of the logical dialogue which have been clarified in the Glorious Qur’an like the objectivity, paying respect to the other, the practicality of the subject, and having disputations with them in the best manner, avoiding scaring and exaggeration, and observing the primary basic self-evident measures. And some of these most important principles are intensified and clarified in the Holy Qur’anic verses (ayat) such as the presence of equal proportion between the dialogists with the subject – matter of the dialogue. That is to say, it cannot be made between a man ignorant of philosophy and a well – versed philosopher. Hence we call for confining the discourse on the controversial or disputed matters in the specialized framework, while taking them away from the fields of mass media which are listened to by the ignorant and the learned scientists, where they may leave behind their painful negative effects like hatred, rancour and grudge. Of course, we do not call for closing the door of doctrinal and ideological discussion, or the historical discussion, but we insist on being in a proper academic atmosphere away from the noisy or vociferous atmosphere. The Holy Qur’an has taught the Prophet (S.A.) that he should not rationalize in such a terrible atmosphere. Allah Almighty has said in the Holy Qur’an, while teaching the Prophet (S.A.) how to talk with such people who have accused him with madness: "Say: I exhort you only to one thing, that rise up for Allah’s sake in two’s and singly, then ponder, there is no madness in your fellow – citizen, he is only a warner to you… " (34:46) Finally, We pray to Almighty Allah for guidance and righteousness and uprightness for all. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Monotheistic Thought and Regaining the Identity By: Ayatullah Sayyid ‘Ali Khamene’i Leader of the Islamic Revolution of lran The ground of revelation has gathered together again the masses of the believers in its yearly hospitality. The earnest longing souls have come from all over the world to the cradle of Islam and the Holy Qur’an, with the purpose of performing the rites of pilgrimage which embody the face of the eternal lesson which Islam and the Holy Qur’an teach the humankind, when we look into them carefully. Whereas these rites, in their turn, form the symbolic steps to translate this sublime lesson into the area of work and application. The objective of this great lesson is the success, eternal might and sublimity of the human believer. No doubt, the way of realizing this objective lies in the nurturing and educating of the human being and forming the upright society. That is the true human being who worships Allah, the One, the Unique, heartily and practically, and purifies himself from the moral pollutions and the devious whims. And that forms the society which depends-in its formation – on justice, liberty, faith, liveliness, activity and all the respects of life and progress. ln fact, the major elements for the achievement of this individual and societal education are written down and included in the great duty of pilgrimage (hajj). That is to say, from the beginning of entering the state of ihram (ritual consecration of pilgrimage), and getting out of the space and area of the individual distinctive qualities, and giving up the multifarious pleasures and whimsical desires, so as to go to the process of circumambulation around the symbol of Tawhid (Monotheism), and perform the prayers in the prayer – site of the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), the destroyer of the idols, and the sacrificer of the soul and precious property. Then, he transfers from the speedy walk (sa ‘y) between the two mountains, As-Safa and Marwah, to the state of feeling of serenity, tranquillity and security, in the areas of the valley of ‘Arafat amongst great masses of unitarian believers of all colours and races. Then, he passes a night full of the remembrance of Allah and supplication in al-Mash‘ar al-Haram, where every heart is spiritually pleased with Allah alone, in spite of his being amongst the enormous masses of believers. Then he attends Mina, so as to cast the pebbles against the Satanic symbols. Then comes the embodying of the process of sacrifice which is full of deep meanings. Afterwards, comes the deed of feeding the needy and the wayfarer. Certainly, All of these rituals form the process of teaching, training, practising, and remembrance of Allah Almighty. Thus, the Holy Ka‘bah and the rites of hajj (pilagrimage) become a source for supporting the human communities and their high uprising, besides, they are full of benefits and advantages for people. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an, in this regard: "Allah has made the Ka‘bah, the Sacred House, a maintenance for the people" (5:97). And He Almighty says in this Holy Verse: "That they may witness advantages for them and mention the Name of Allah during stated days" (22:28). ln fact, all Muslims of the world are invited to evaluate and observe this great duty clearly and strictly more than before. And they can see that the hope has become greater than before, so as to achieve the objectives which were depicted by Islam for all Muslims. We, can certainly notice that the Western political and economic schools, at present, are sufffering –in this Hejri 15th century from weakness, decline and defeat, whereas Islam has started a new stage of might, flourishing and prosperity by the virtue of the consciousness of Muslims and regaining their identity, and by means of presenting and observing the Monotheistic thought and the logic of justice and spiritual values. I say faithfully that this is only the beginning of the path. And certainly, the Divine promise will be soon fulfilled completely, that is to say, it is the promise of giving the triumph of the truth against falsehood, and the reestablishment and reconstruction of the Ummah of the Holy Qur’an, and the modern Islamic civilization. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an: "Allah has promised to those of you who believe and do good that He will most certainly make them rulers in the earth as he made rulers those before them, and that He will most certainly establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them, and that He will most certainly, after their fear, give them security in exchange, they shall serve Me, not associating aught with Me, and whoever is ungrateful after this, these it is who are the transgressors". (24:55). As a matter of fact, the victory of the Islamic revolution in lran and the establishing of the high structures of the Islamic famous system, has been a strong evidence of fulfilling such a great promise, especially in the early stage, which has changed lran into a strong base for the supreme sovereignty of Islam and the Islamic Civilization. As a result, a new great hope has emanated in the Islamic world, and a new zeal and enthusiasm has emanated in the spirits of Muslims, directly, at the time of rising this phenomenon which is similar to a great miracle, esepecially, when the West and the East have reached the top of noisy materialism, while exposing Islam to both hostile intellectual and political attacks, by the Left Side and the Right Side of the Powers of Arrogance. Then, we dare say that this great phenomenon of the revolution stood hard and strongly against the Western political, military , economical and mass media attacks and managed to defeat all of their forces and powers. _____________________________________________________________________________________ The Identity between the Theat of Excessive stereoty- ping, and the Bad Consequences of Extremism By: Shaykh Muhammad ‘Ali At.Taskhiri When an Ummah-having consciousness, an attitude towards the universe, history and human being; a lively comprehensive ideology, which produces coherence and adherence representing its thinking and personality - is attacked by the enemy, it is meant to drown in indifference, carelessness and laziness. Besides, it is targeted to be divided, disunited and scattered. Whereas, we may see that the factual state of affairs is separated from its profound historical roots, its doctrinal or ideological structures, and its limited characteristics. Besides the enemies plan to destroy the collective reason, the general culture, connection of related feelings, and the harmony of conduct. Moreover, the enemy attempts to overcome the will of the Ummah, to divide it, and to break up its resistance. As a result of these above-mentioned factors and actions, the Ummah has to stand strongly against them, and we should do our best for what is necessary, and wanted to be done, otherwise we should expect bad conequences. ln addition we should know that the enemy acts upon pushing the Ummah to deterioration and falling in the abyss of the folkloric and superficial state which produces either self-glorification or empty narcissism, or fanaticism and racialism. Hence, in both such cases the result would be retreating, retardation of the identity, and the extremity in rationality, thinking, culture and social affairs-as Dr. Fathi At-Tariki openly states. Indeed when the enemy conspires on any Ummah, the question of the identity rises, as some philosophers say: "The actual objective, here is to be acquainted with the reality of the Ummah as it is. Also we aim at knowing the limits of this reality and its characteristics without going deeply into generalization and stereotyping to the extent that it transforms into a flowing truth or reality, and wide-open existence. Hence, we should not waste the features of the personality, and lose its individuality and stature which grants it the distinctive (clear) characteristics which excel over the others. _____________________________________________________________________________________ The Role of Press in Warding off the Negative Actions in the Religious and Cultural Fields By: Dr. Shaykh Muhammad Mahdi At-Taskhiri The influence of media on the modern human community, whether positive or negative, has become self-evident and known for all. ln fact, the discourse shows the role of press within the general media influence as considered one of the most important matters which are to be taken care of attentively and strictly by the researchers. Because the press has various opportunities for publishing the thoughts, views, approaches and different visions in the shadow of the revolution of electronic means of communications, which have transformed the grand globe, which is big in its volume, vast in its space, various in its nationalities, and different in its views and opinions into a small or little village which is revealed for all, in all of its cultural, social, and political respects and fields.
